Recreation and Office Assistant Job Description
Position Summary
The Recreation and Office Assistant supports the City of Brush Recreation Department by assisting with recreational programming and providing administrative support to ensure efficient daily operations. This position serves as a key point of contact for the public and helps create a welcoming, safe, and organized environment for community members.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Recreation Program Support
Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing community recreation programs, events, and activities
Prepare and maintain recreation facilities, including setting up and taking down equipment
Monitor participants to ensure safety, enforce rules, and promote a positive environment
Provide support to program instructors, coaches, and event coordinators
Help maintain cleanliness and safety standards of all recreation areas
Assist with youth and adult programs, leagues, and special events
Customer Service & Office Support
Greet and assist the public in person, by phone, and via email
Provide information on programs, schedules, registrations, and facility usage
Process program registrations, reservations, and payments
Maintain accurate records, files, and reports
Perform general clerical duties such as data entry, filing, and document preparation
Assist with marketing efforts, including flyers, social media updates, and community outreach
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous experience in parks and recreation, customer service, or administrative support preferred
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar software
Ability to handle multiple tasks and work independently or as part of a team
Must be dependable, professional, and community-oriented
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift equipment (up to 40 lbs)
Capability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
Ability to participate in recreational activities when needed
Work Schedule
Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays,
depending on department needs, and this is an hourly seasonal position.
Work Environment
Combination of office setting and recreational facilities (parks, gyms, fields)
Frequent interaction with the public, including youth and families
Additional Requirements
Must pass background check if working with youth programs
Must pass drug screening
CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or ability to obtain upon hire)
