General Purpose
Responsible position that insures the safety and welfare of all members while using the swimming pool, wading pool, sundeck and general pool area.
Supervision Received
Works under the immediate supervision of the Aquatic Supervisor and the general supervision of the Recreation Superintendent.
Supervision Exercised
All patrons using the pool and pool areas. Staff members as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for enforcing pool rules and regulations.
Performs rescue and/or first aid functions as required.
Insures that daily reports and records are properly completed for the Aquatic Supervisor.
Responsible for assisting with the cleaning and maintenance of the pool and pool areas.
Responsible for assisting with vacuuming of the pools.
Assists with programs when needed.
Promotes positive public relations.
Peripheral Duties
Employee may be asked to perform other duties based on the business needs of the City.
The employee may be asked to work holidays.
Desired Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Must be at least 15 years of age. Must have a current lifesaving card, CPR card and First Aid card.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to effectively enforce safety and health regulations relating to an aquatics program; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other agencies, participants, instructors and the general public; Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Ability to give and understand oral instructions; Ability to be part of a cohesive recreation team; Ability to work with and direct people. Must be dependable with the ability to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings as necessary and scheduled.
Skill in operation of listed tools and equipment; Skill in First Aid and CPR.
Special Requirements
First Aid and CPR certification; Lifeguard certification.
Tools and Equipment Used
Various hand tools used in the maintenance of swimming pool equipment; pool testing equipment; telephone; calculator; copy machine; fax machine.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet while in the office, and moderately loud when in the field. The position may also require travel for the purpose of attending training workshops.

Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 28 per week
