General Description
Performs manual work involved in the daily collection of garbage, refuse and brush pickups. At other times, assists in installation and replacement of plastic lids on dumpsters. Must be willing to adopt and exhibit the City of Brownwood I SERVE Core Values.

Physical And Environmental Conditions
Outdoors, unpleasant work in adverse weather, noise, odors, and dirty conditions. Strenuous work requires moderate to heavy physical activity; requires getting on and off vehicle from 100 to 300 times daily. Some of the hazards exposed to are bad weather, machinery, chemicals, and items placed in containers and working around electrical lines. Ability to sit, stand and drive a vehicle to and from various worksites. Employees will be exposed to seasonal temperatures while performing maintenance duties and be exposed to mechanical and chemical hazards. Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and 5-100 pounds occasionally. Ability to bend, stoop, walk, push brooms, sweep, and dig. Ability to walk over sloped and uneven terrain. Work involves getting dirty and wet, cutting trees and limbs. Employees will be exposed to dirt, dust, noises, fumes and odors. Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with the public. Ability to understand verbal and written communication. Occasionally required to work more than 40 hours per week and on holidays and weekends.

Education And Experience
Must have enough education to read and write effectively for this position; must be able to comprehend and speak the English language; a high school diploma or G.E.D. is a plus but is not required; experience desirable but not required; on the job training will be provided.

Physical ability to work in extreme weather conditions; ability to lift containers on a daily basis; the ability to learn designated routes to fill in as driver when needed; ability to operate power tools.

- Pick up all excess bags and trash around dumpsters; 2) Pick up brush and debris load it on truck; 3) Perform daily vehicle maintenance as required; 4) Assist driver in cleaning and washing of trucks; 5) Repair broken rollouts; install lids on dumpsters; 6) Pick up litter; 7) If qualified, fills in as driver for other positions as assigned; 8) Dispose of deceased animals as assigned; 9) Use power tools as assigned; 10) General cleanup of grounds and buildings at City facilities; 11) Use abrasive cleaning machine to remove paint from containers in need of repair; 12) Performs other duties assigned by supervisor.

- REQUIRED LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:** Valid Texas Driver License. Class B Commercial Driver License without air brake restrictions is required within 1 year after hire date.
