CITY OF BROWNWOOD
**Post 6-Month Probation:$3,274 per month / $18.89 - hour**
This is a non-supervisory position that is responsible for the care and maintenance of landscape areas, irrigation and mowing of city owned property. Primary responsibility is for city buildings and islands. Must be willing to adopt and exhibit the City of Brownwood I SERVE Core Values.

Physical And Environmental Conditions
Outdoors, Ability to transport self from site to site. Ability to drive various types of equipment and vehicles to and from various worksites. Employee will work in extreme temperatures, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, twisting, climbing and lifting in order to maintain or repair the City's infrastructure. Employee will work with chemical, mechanical, electrical and traffic hazards. Employee will work in trenches and next to streets where extreme hazards exist while per forming duties. Employee is frequently required to perform heavy lifting and carrying of materials weighing up to 100 pounds. Employee will be exposed to dirt, dust, noises, fumes, odors, water and mud. Employee must be able to walk on slippery, loose, uneven and sloped surfaces. May be required to work evenings and weekends in an emergency situation. Occasional overtime hours.

Education And Experience
High school diploma or G.E.D. required; experience in horticulture and irrigation required.

- Knowledge of care and maintenance of landscape areas.
- Maintenance and installation of irrigation systems.
- Cut lawns at city buildings and islands with power mower.
- Operate small garden tractor equipped with mowing apparatus.
- Trim hedges and walkways.
- Polices parks and recreational areas to assure they are kept clean.
- Assist other employees in repairs and maintenance, including painting, plumbing, welding and minor electrical jobs.
- Assist with the pecan harvest at the Pecan Field Station during the months of November through March.
- Assist in moving tables, chairs and other equipment to various locations as directed by the Parks Supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Parks Supervisor.
