The Assistant Director reports to the City Manager to assist in the management, planning organizing, and directing of work within the Public Works Department.
Successful applicants will possess knowledge of budget projection, development, management and justification practices and procedures and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public officials, regulators, legislators, employees, and the general public. Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting with oversight of multiple operations within the department of Public Works, which includes Streets, Engineering, Fleet Maintenance, and Parks and Recreation Operations
- Supervising and directing subordinate personnel in the preparation of design criteria, designs, analysis, specifications, plans, investigations, cost estimates, tabulations of contract bids, contract payments, functional operations, regulatory compliance and related matters
- Overseeing and managing major capital improvement projects

Bachelor’s degree with major course work in business administration, engineering, or related field required. Experience in public works administration with some supervisory experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience required. Ten years’ experience in construction project management preferred. Valid driver’s license required.
