Hiring Salary - $19.50 hourly
DEFINITION
Oversee the sports complex for scheduled tournaments over weekends. Address sports complex logistics such as field preparation, unlocking restrooms and gates in the morning and locking the facility up at close. This position must work well independently and in a group setting, with peers, and with the public, while providing excellent, respectful customer service and human relations skills, which support the City of Brighton's mission and values.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Reports to the Sports Supervisor and the Sports Coordinator(s)
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Monitors guests and enforces sports complex rules.
Prepares the fields: setting bases, pitching mounds and pitching rubbers, chalking the field (with chalk paint) if needed for tournaments and/or leagues, and setting fences if required by tournament
Performs field maintenance: checking bases, pitching rubbers, and fences for damage. If damaged replace as needed.
Reports problems, inappropriate situations and behaviors to Sports Supervisor and/or Coordinator immediately.
Utilizes independent judgment in performing ground maintenance activities.
Picks up clippings, paper, and trash from athletic fields.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Basic grounds maintenance procedures including edging, raking and weeding.
Preparing softball and baseball fields.
Safe work procedures in the operation of hand and power tools.
Ability to:
Work harmoniously and cooperatively with other employees and the public.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Must be at least 18 years of age.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The candidate must have sufficient strength, agility, stamina and flexibility to move or carry up to 50 pounds, stand, crouch, kneel, bend and stoop while assisting children and adults for extended periods of time. The candidate must have adequate hearing and vision in order to discriminate between different sounds, objects, people and colors at near and far distances.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
Must pass a background check.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
