Position: Aquatics Supervisor

Reports to: Assistant Director

Salary: $25.29 - $35.54 per hour

Dates of employment: Full Time

Job Purpose

This position oversees the operational, supervisory and programming activities of the aquatic facilities and participates in the operations of the Recreation Center.

Responsibilities:

• Recruits, trains and oversees employees so that each individual has sufficient training, guidance and direction to successfully perform his or her job duties.
• Oversees ongoing, seasonal and annual maintenance to the pools, facilities and surrounding grounds to ensure safe and proper working order and to present an attractive, positive image.
• Creates and implements new classes and programs to increase pool and facility usage and provide citizens with enjoyable options.
• Ensures that pool patrons are treated in a professional and polite manner and handles service problems that arise in accordance with the City's established procedures.
• Compiles data, documents activities and develops reports and records regarding pool and facility usage, maintenance, revenues, purchasing, staff scheduling, payroll and other requested information so that important information is readily available.
• Responsible for timely reconciliation and handling of facility revenues.
• Works in partnership with other City staff.

Requirements:

• College degree in Parks and Recreation Management or Associate degree and 3 years of experience operating an aquatics facility.
• Aquatic Facilities Operators Certification or Certified Pool and Spa Operator Certification.
• Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) certification or equivalent from another water safety organization.
• Mental: Uses information to solve problems and make effective decisions. Thinks quickly and rationally. Remains calm in difficult situations. Able to work with a wide variety of people. The writing and mathematics skills to develop all reports. Able to supervise employees.
• Physical: Able to walk up to five miles per day. Able to climb. Able to sit for extended periods of time. The physical strength necessary to perform rescue activities on adults. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals.
• Works outdoors in the heat of summer for long periods of time.
• Be available to work some evenings and weekends especially during the summer outdoor pool season.
