Course Descriptions
Music Industry
This course is a project-based CTE course that teaches the foundations of and builds on students prior knowledge of music production, music notation, composition, history, and sound science. Students develop skills in music production, technology, sound editing, and audio engineering. This is a concentrator course in the pathway.
Music Industry 2
This course is a project-based CTE capstone course that reviews all music production skills used in Music Industry and introduces advanced music production concepts, including recording, engineering, composing, and editing/mixing. This is a capstone course in the pathway.
Rock Band
This course is designed for students who have experience playing guitar, bass, piano, drums or singing, and want to continue to enhance their musical technique and performance. They will learn about how to organize a live performance and program music effectively. The class will use historic timelines to incorporate the theory of how music is constructed and written and how the music has evolved over time. This is a concentrator course in the pathway.
Advanced Rock Band
This course builds upon skills learned in the Rock Band course. Students will be placed in ensembles for performances and learn to collaborate effectively with others with diverse musical skill sets. They will learn about how to organize a live performance and program music effectively. This is a capstone course in the pathway.
REQUIREMENTS: Hold or Qualify for CA Career Technical Education Credential in Arts, Media and Entertainment (AME) and English Learner Authorization based upon the following requirements:

- Minimum 3 years experience or a combination of education, training and experience in Music with at least 1 year experience in the Music Arts, Media, Entertainment industry in the last 10 years.
- Commit to completion of a 2 year online CTE credential program within the first 2 years
