CLASS TITLE: Police Youth Program CoordinatorContinued employment depends on the availability of program funding.Basic Function: The Police Youth Program Coordinator is a full-time position responsible for coordinating, implementing, and expanding youth engagement programs operated by the Brawley Police Department. These programs include but are not limited to the MLS GO Soccer Program, Esports Academy, Brawley PD Football Club, Explorers and the Brawley Police Boxing Academy. The coordinator serves as a mentor, coach, and organizer, fostering positive relationships between youth, law enforcement, and the broader community. This role involves supervising part-time coordinators and volunteer/city employee coaches, advisors, coordinating with city and school district personnel, and promoting and organizing events to increase community participation and program visibility.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Coordinate and oversee all Brawley Police Department youth programs, including seasonal leagues, training sessions, clinics, and special events.Plan and execute program logistics, including scheduling, participant registration, equipment management, and facility use.Promote programs and organize community events, competitions, exhibitions, and outreach campaigns to boost youth participation and public engagement.Recruit, train, supervise, and support part-time program staff, city employees, and volunteer coaches.Coordinate with the Parks and Recreation Manager and staff and local school district representatives for scheduling, facilities, and collaborative efforts.Serve as a coach or mentor as needed to support program success and build relationships with youth.Foster a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for youth participants of diverse backgrounds.Maintain accurate records of attendance, inventory, budgets, and program impact.Prepare and submit reports to Police Department leadership and partner agencies after each program cycle or event.Assist in the preparation of grants, budget proposals, and presentations to city leadership and community stakeholders.Represent the Police Department at school functions, youth outreach events, and other community initiatives.Perform related duties as assigned.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of youth development strategies, recreational programming, and mentorship practices.Strong event planning, promotional, and organizational skills.Ability to lead teams, build partnerships, and connect effectively with youth and families.Familiarity with sports, esports, or recreational programming preferred.Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic reporting tools; able to use communication and scheduling platforms.Other Requirements: Must pass a background investigation, Live Scan, and drug screening.You must possess a valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.Must be available to work evenings and weekends during program activities and community events.CPR and First Aid certification (or must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
