What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facility Maintenance Specialist position at City of Brandon?
Under regular supervision, provides facilities maintenance duties in accordance with the policies and procedures of the City and in compliance with governing federal and state procedures and/or laws. The facilities manager is responsible for managing the design, planning, construction and maintenance of equipment, machinery
for City owned buildings and other City facilities. The position plans, budgets, and schedules facility modifications, including estimates, on equipment, labor, materials, and other related costs.
THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING DUTIES. THEY ARE EXAMPLES ONLY AND MAY BE AMENDED OR ADDED TO AS NEEDED BY THE CITY.
Examples of work performance in this classification include, but are not limited to, the following tasks. These tasks may be amended, or other tasks may be assigned as necessary.
- Coordinate system repairs and monitor system performance.
- Maintain adequate parts inventory and order items as necessary.
- Execute equipment audits and record-keeping policies.
- Coordinate with the appropriate department head on the implementation of building repairs and needs.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and security protocols.
- Manages preventive maintenance of facility equipment, including HVAC and other facility systems.
Competencies:
1. 3 years experience in facilities management position or in construction trades.
2. Able to read and understand complex electrical, mechanical and automation systems plans.
3. Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems.
4. Demonstrate leadership skills.
5. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
6. Excellent project management skills.
7. Problem solving/analysis.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School graduate or GED equivalent along with the completion of minimum of two-years (64 semester hours) college work in an accredited junior college, college, or university with major course work in communications or related technology subjects.
