Classification: Essential: This position is an Essential Classification and will require you to report to duty after an emergency or a hurricane.
Schedule: This position generally works a regular weekday daytime shift and may require scheduled and non-scheduled work outside of normal working hours. This may include evenings, weekends, holidays, or other critical times in response to emergencies or at supervisor’s discretion.
Supervision Exercised: No supervision of staff. Ability to lead and manage projects and resources where and when required.
Supervision Received: Works under the direct supervision from the Manager of Information Technology. Considerable independent judgment and initiative is required. Must be able to set schedules and complete work within approved timeframes.
General Purpose of the Position: The purpose of this position is to implement workstation and laptop computers, peripherals, desktops and phones and provide technical support on both. Where appropriate, this position will also provide application and technical support. This position also helps the City of Bradenton maximize its investment in technology by implementing solutions to the furthest extent.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Configure and install personal computers, peripherals and phones to City standards.
· Maintain technical procedures and storage room(s) in a manner to support the implementation of equipment.
· Responsible for the appropriate disposal of computers.
· Ensure inventory of I.T. assets is managed and fully stocked.
· Complete appropriate paperwork for inventory (i.e. hardware and software) and purchasing.
· Interface with vendors for equipment repair.
· Make recommendations for purchases and cascading equipment.
· Provide application and technical support.
· Analyze user requests and develop reports to support business needs.
· Establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with team members, management, customers, and vendors.
· Promote courtesy and professionalism throughout the City of Bradenton.
Skills and Physical Abilities Required:
· Provide excellent customer service.
· Possess in-depth knowledge of computer operations (i.e. hardware and software).
· Possess working knowledge of Microsoft applications and the internet.
· Demonstrate sound verbal and written communication skills, good troubleshooting and analytical skills.
· Make sound decisions, demonstrate flexibility, and work with people at all levels of the organization.
· Present technical information in a non-technical manner.
· Physically move computer and related equipment.
Computer Equipment and Software Requirements: Microsoft operating systems and desktop applications. Technical operations of computer hardware and operating systems. Basic knowledge of networking and security.
Education and Experience Required: Associates Degree with three (3) years of experience providing desktop support. Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Technology or related field.
FDLE/CJIS Requirement: Previous FDLE or other security clearances are preferred. This position requires the candidate be certified by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for work using systems that contain offender and criminal data. A thorough background check will be required for an offer of employment for this position.
Commercial Driver License (CDL): A Commercial Driver License (CDL) is not required for this position.
Environmental Conditions: Indoor. Must be able to work closely with others and under possible stressful conditions.
