Kennel Worker/Part Time (Animal Control)

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Responsible for the proper feeding, watering, cleaning and exercising of animals in the area assigned. Cleaning of animal runs and cages in the area assigned. Help as needed with intake, medicating and transporting animals. Keeps area assigned clean and free from clutter. Cleans other kennel areas as assigned by the Kennel Supervisor. Helps with washing and folding laundry and dishes. Informs Kennel Supervisor of any health related issues. Work independently and as part of a team. Perform all other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIRED: High School diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED). May be required to acquire CAET (Certified Animal Euthanasia Technicians) certification in the state of Louisiana.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED: Shall have the knowledge of cleaning and disinfecting methods and the use and care of cleaning materials and equipment. Shall have the ability to read and interpret documents, regulatory requirements, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, etc. Shall have knowledge of proper methods of animal restraint. Shall have the ability to learn to administer medications and recognize abnormal conditions. Reasoning abilities shall include the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Shall have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
