Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 8 years of experience in a lead or supervisory role, overseeing employees of skilled trade work in a commercial facilities maintenance location, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Valid state-issued driver's license.
- Ability to complete airport driver training/certification.

Essential Functions
Manages the work of professional, technical and/or other staff; determines the organizational structure, staffing needs and work strategies; ensures adequate resources are available for staff to perform work duties; and ensures that assigned operations and activities comply with organization goals and objectives.
Organizes, coordinates, schedules and directs the maintenance, remodeling, repair and inspection of multiple airport facilities, grounds and related equipment. Develops working plans, layouts, cost and material estimates and bid specifications for buildings, equipment, grounds and improvements. Evaluates the need to contract with outside agencies. Assists skilled electricians and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) technicians in the maintenance, repair and installation of various electrical, heating, cooling and pneumatic systems.
Anticipates long-range equipment purchases, examines the budget and implements cost-effective long-term procurement. Develops innovative efficient strategies to streamline and improve operations. Prepares project budgets and approves all division purchases and expenditures, including department inventory. Advises departments in cost-effective construction, repair and maintenance of facilities and related equipment.
Establishes safety programs and ensures safe operation and handling of equipment, supplies, hazardous materials and vehicles. Inspects projects for quality and timeliness of results.
Works collaboratively to resolve problems with tenants and constituents concerning building safety, security access, facilities and maintenance of the grounds.
Interacts with the public and provides information or directs them to appropriate personnel.

Knowledge of:; electrical, plumbing, mechanical and structural trades; the operation, maintenance and repair of complex chillers, air conditioners and pneumatic and electronic equipment; methods, equipment and materials used in building, grounds, and equipment maintenance, repair, construction and installation; building codes and regulations; reading blueprints and schematics; electronic security, access control and fire alarm systems; egress priorities and requirements; automated material handling systems; energy conservation programs; rules and regulations relevant to airport operations; computer usage including related software; and the safe operation of heavy equipment.
Ability to:; diagnose malfunctions of complex mechanical equipment; use sound judgment and independent discretion in establishing policies and priorities; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.
Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
- Bachelor's degree and ten years of supervisory experience with ten or more highly skilled employees in multiple trades.
- Experience with automated material handling systems, government purchasing requirements and working in an operations environment that operates 24 hours a day year-round.
- Public sector experience in a supervisory role and/or history working closely with multiple government entities.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is always lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, frequently lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds, occasionally lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds and rarely lifting/carrying up to 75 pounds. Also, the employee is frequently pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds, occasionally pushing/pulling up to 35 pounds and rarely pushing/pulling up to 75 pounds. The noise level is occasionally moderate and rarely very loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear, smell and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, climb and balance. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.
Working Environment
The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, in wet and humid conditions, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter. Employees are exposed to mechanical and electrical hazards and work in/at heights. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position. Work includes protected exposure to infectious bacteria, bodily fluids and chemicals. Work is performed in and around ice, snow, traffic, uneven surfaces, walkways, wind, wildlife, insects, wet and slippery surfaces. Additional environmental conditions include: arc flash, welding spatter, welding smoke, molten metal, high pressure fluids.
This position works: nights, weekends and holidays, as required. Reports to facility in case of an emergency.
