What are the responsibilities and job description for the Customer Service Clerk - Public Works Operations position at City of Blue Springs?
In this position for the Public Works Operations Division, the successful candidate will service as a front line to customers of the Public Works.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Answers phones for all divisions and greets the public. Assists the public with inquiries.
2. Type letters, reports, and other documents.
3. Maintains records for all water meter sets, taps, and inspections.
4. Arrange meetings with customers.
5. Performs data entry for assigned divisions of Public Works Operations
6. Maintains backflow inspection records.
7. Operates radio base station and pager to communicate with field personnel.
8. Orders and distributes office supplies and materials.
9. Other duties as assigned.
The above duties and responsibilities include those tasks, physical and mental requirements, visual requirements, unique physical surroundings, and mental/cognitive abilities required to perform the essential elements of the position.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Education and Special License(s)/Certifications - High school diploma or GED.
2. Experience – Six months to one year of experience in a related field.
3. Skills - Skill in typing, filing, and record keeping. Knowledge of general office procedures, personal computer use, and Microsoft office software. Knowledge of city streets and subdivisions.
4. Mental Requirements - Ability to maintain clerical records via computer and prepare reports accordingly. Ability to communicate effectively and interface with the general public. Ability to perform tasks with minimum supervision. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
5. Physical Requirements - Must be able to sit for prolonged periods; must be able to listen to normal conversation; must be able to walk occasionally, and use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; must be able to reach with hands and arms; must be able to have vision sufficient to see close up and have the ability to adjust focus; and, must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds and transport it 15 feet.
