SCHEDULE: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday - Tee Times are from 11a-1p & Wednesday - Tee Times are from 12p-2p
POSITION PURPOSE:
The City of Birmingham (EOE) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Junior Ranger with the City's Department of Public Services. The Junior Ranger plays a vital role in supporting our summer Junior Golf Program by providing on-course guidance, promoting golf etiquette, ensuring participant safety, and helping create a positive, structured learning environment. This is a hands-on position ideal for someone who enjoys working with the youth, has a passion for golf, and understands the importance of pace of play and course care.
FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Escort and guide junior golfers on the golf course during their 9-hole playing sessions.
- Reinforce proper golf etiquette and sportsmanship.
- Monitor and teach appropriate pace of play.
- Assist with basic on-course maintenance duties such as,
- Fixing ball marks on the greens.
- Cleaning up debris.
- Encouraging bunker raking and tee box care.
- Provide encouragement and support to junior participants.
- Serve as a role model for respectful, responsible, and enthusiastic golf behavior.
- Additional related responsibilities as assigned.
NECESSARY SKILLS:
- Must be responsible and punctual.
- Ability to demonstrate strong customer service skills.
- Possess good communication skills.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to work the golf course and be outdoors for extended periods.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience playing or understanding golf rules and etiquette is not required, but preferred.
- Experience with public contact is preferred.
