- Practices: Monday & Wednesday evenings
- Games: Saturday mornings
- Girls Basketball: October 20, 2025 – November 22, 2025
- Boy Basketball: TBD (anticipated January - February 2026)
Job Summary:
Join the City of Billings Parks, Recreation, and Public Lands as a Youth Basketball Coach and help shape the future of young athletes ages 8–12. Coaches will demonstrate, teach, and develop fundamental basketball skills, while creating a positive, safe, and fun environment. This role includes leading practices, coaching games, and overseeing the facility as a representative of the department.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities- Plan and lead practices that focus on fundamental basketball skills and sportsmanship.
- Instruct and motivate players in a way that matches their skill level and promotes growth.
- Supervise and manage players during games, ensuring safe and fair play.
- Serve as a gym supervisor, monitoring facilities and acting as a liaison for Parks & Recreation.
- Provide equal playing opportunities for all participants.
- Foster a positive environment built on teamwork, development, and fun.
- Communicate professionally with players, parents, officials, and fellow coaches.
- Follow all rules, policies, and procedures while modeling excellent sportsmanship.
- Use equipment provided by Billings Parks and Recreation appropriately.
Requirements:
- Passion for working with youth and helping them succeed.
- Knowledge of basketball fundamentals (high school playing experience or equivalent preferred).
- Professional, confident, and capable of interacting with parents, players, officials, and fans.
- Reliable transportation to practices and games.
- Must be at least 17 years of age.
Salary : $14 - $16
