- Participates in hiring, promotion, evaluation, and discipline of Circulation staff
- Prepares weekly schedules and manages time-off and timesheet approvals
- Provides training, oversight, and ongoing development for Circulation staff
- Trains staff on new circulation policies and maintains a regular training schedule
- Leads regular unit meetings
- Stays current on trends and technology in circulation services
- Screens calls and visitors, answering questions, explaining policies, or referring requests as needed
- Handles administrative information requests, providing explanations of policy and procedure when appropriate
- Resolves disputes about lost or damaged items; escalates unresolved issues to library leadership
- Coordinates library volunteers, including interviewing, training, and scheduling
- Maintains security of office areas by controlling access
- Ensures proper placement of material in paper or electronic files
- Monitors and enforces file retention policies
- Controls access to files based on confidentiality and permission levels
- Organizes and monitors library card application forms, and other data and reports
- Maintains working knowledge of all desk, workroom, and circulation duties
- Schedules meeting rooms and equipment as needed
- Ensures Circulation programs, procedures, and projects comply with policies, laws, and regulations; prepares and reviews reports and correspondence
- Responds to information requests, provides expertise and guidance to City staff, and represents the library on internal and external committees and projects
- Coordinates, supervises, and participates in special projects
- Assists with building security
- Provides first-floor technology troubleshooting support
- Bachelor’s Degree or Other Specialized Certification
- Three (3) or more years of combined education & experience
- Two (2) years supervisory and/or leadworker experience
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to operate personal computers and have advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, or equivalent
