This position is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and facilitating Airport-specific technology solutions to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient operations at Billings Logan International Airport.
Scope of Responsibility:
The incumbent has a high degree of understanding of Airport operations and technology-dependent systems and works with considerable initiative. The incumbent must exercise sound judgment in coordinating vendors, managing technology issues, and communicating technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Work product has a direct impact on Airport operational efficiency and technology coordination. The incumbent must exercise discretion regarding confidential matters and provide detailed procedural explanations and technical coordination across departments and with vendors.

- Serve as the Airport’s primary point of contact for operational technology, equipment, and embedded systems.
- Coordinate with City of Billings IT (Network, Applications, GIS, Security, PC Support) when enterprise systems are involved.
- Act as liaison between Airport staff and technology vendors supporting:
- Camera and video systems
- Access control and badging systems
- Baggage handling systems
- Fuel management systems
- Building management/HVAC systems
- Public address and digital display systems
- Airport advertising systems
- Kiosks and common-use systems
- Track and manage vendor service requests from initiation through resolution.
- Assist with planning and coordination of technology components in Airport capital improvement projects.
- Maintain documentation of Airport technology systems, vendor contacts, and support processes.
- Monitor technology performance and coordinate preventive maintenance with vendors.
- Support FAA and TSA-related technology compliance coordination as applicable.
- Identify process improvements to streamline communication between Airport operations, vendors, and City IT.
- Provide basic end-user guidance related to Airport-specific systems (not enterprise helpdesk support).
- Participate in budget planning related to technology, lifecycle and vendor services.
- Communicate with the City of Billings Information Technology Department to ensure proper escalation and coordination of enterprise services.
- Communicate effectively with Airport leadership, tenants, contractors, vendors, and regulatory stakeholders regarding technology matters.
- Improve technical support job knowledge by attending training sessions, reading technical publications, establishing personal networks, and bench marking state-of-the-art practices.
- Researches, recommends, and applies new technologies as applicable and appropriate for the Airport.
Technology Operations Coordination
- Coordinate development and maintenance of Airport technology systems and services.
- Maintain system and equipment inventories and documentation for Airport operational technologies.
- Facilitate communication between Airport divisions and City IT services.
- Support technology-related components of Airport capital projects.
- Associate’s degree or higher in Business, Information Systems, Engineering Technology, Aviation Technology Systems, or related field; or relevant work experience equivalent.
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in technology coordination, systems support, vendor-managed technical environments, or similar operational technology setting; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Familiar with advanced concepts and basic operating principles of data communications and information systems hardware and software.
- Strong and clear communication skills with individual users on all levels.
- Must be open to cross-training and have flexibility in duties as assigned.
- Administrative, organizational, and planning skills. Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Customer and detail oriented.
- A current Montana driver’s license or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of employment.
- Must complete a criminal history records check conducted by the FBI through the fingerprinting process and a successful security threat assessment conducted by TSA.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to adapt, integrate and modify existing programs or vendor-supplied packaged programs for use with existing information systems.
- Able to focus on detailed work for extended periods of time.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver multiple projects on time while maintaining an efficient/timely daily work schedule.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
