Overview
As a Laborer with the City of Biddeford Public Works Department, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and improving the city’s infrastructure and public spaces. This position involves a variety of outdoor tasks and offers hands-on experience in multiple areas of public works operations.
Skills
- Reliable, punctual, and eager to learn new skills in a fast-paced environment
- Basic understanding of tools, equipment, and safety procedures (training provided if needed)
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and work effectively within a team
- Good communication skills for clear coordination with colleagues
- Safely operate City-owned vehicles such as pickup trucks with plows
- Use hand tools, lawn equipment, and other landscaping tools
- Perform flagging duties
- Work on construction sites and paving projects
- Comfortable working outdoors in all types of weather
Required Qualifications
- Availability for emergencies (snowfall, floods, downed trees, etc.)
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness to obtain a CDL (City offers a successful CDL training program)
