Position Responsibilities

The CDL Class B Truck Driver will perform a variety of Public Works construction, roadway maintenance, and winter operations duties, including:

• Operating dump trucks and other City-owned vehicles safely
• Installing culverts and performing ditching and drainage work
• Assisting with grading and grade-rod operations
• Performing hot-top and asphalt work
• Plowing and sanding City roads, facilities, and properties using front plows and wing plows
• Assisting with winter storm response and other weather-related operations
• Supporting road painting, raking, sweeping, cleanup, and related activities
• Performing landscaping and general maintenance tasks as needed
• Working cooperatively with Public Works staff and other City departments
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment
• Performing a variety of additional duties as assigned

This position offers a broad range of hands-on work. Successful candidates should be prepared to contribute wherever needed—because the job involves much more than simply driving.

Required Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License
• Clean driving record
• Availability for winter on-call assignments
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays during snowstorms or other weather emergencies
• Ability to safely operate dump trucks, plow trucks, and other municipal equipment
• Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions
• Dependable work ethic and commitment to teamwork, safety, and public service

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous construction experience
• Public Works or municipal operations experience
• Snowplowing and winter maintenance experience
• Landscaping experience
• Experience with culvert installation, ditching, grading, paving, sweeping, or roadway maintenance
