What are the responsibilities and job description for the THE LANDING - ATTENDANT position at CITY OF BETTENDORF?
GENERAL SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Shift Manager, this individual is primarily responsible for daily operational duties including working in the lodge, collecting admissions, managing ice skates, assisting skaters in the lodge and on the skating rink, informing patrons of rules, and monitoring the safety of all visitors, and concession sales. Administers first aid as needed, answers the phone, provides general information pertaining to The Landing Ice Rink, and maintains constant contact with the public, visitors, and patrons.
AREAS OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONIBILITIES
- Responsible for opening, securing, operating, and closing facility according to policy.
- Ensure rules are followed by patrons and inform violators of the rules if necessary. Provide warnings and further suspension of skating, as described in rules, if needed. Ensure patrons remain in permitted areas. Assist with and report unsafe conditions to and Shift Manager. Provide limited assistance to new skaters.
- Perform skate rental operations according to policy: Check for wristbands on customers, pass out and collect skates, tie laces and clean skates, inspect skates to ensure they are in proper and safe condition.
- Answer phone calls for the facility and interact with the public in a kind and courteous manner.
- Maintain cleanliness of the facility, inside and outside: General cleaning (mop, sweep, dust, vacuum, wiping tables), regular bathroom checks and light cleaning, pick up trash or spills, replace full garbage bags.
- Must be able to use a cash register and computer point-of-sale system accurately.
- Restock concession, resale items, and admission items as needed. Perform inventory of food, beverage, and merchandise.
- Maintain excellent customer service with all patrons. Greet customers with a smile and respond to patron needs in a kind and courteous manner. Provide general direction and supervision on and off the rink to both youth and adult skaters. Maintain professional behavior at all times.
- Perform snow removal and spreading salt in and around the facility. Assist in removing snow from the surface of the ice rink as needed.
- Must have reliable transportation and be able to work all scheduled hours, including early afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
- Attend regular staff meetings and training.
- When necessary, complete required paperwork accurately and on time.
- Perform basic first aid and CPR/AED skills if necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WORK SCHEDULE
The Landing season operations take place November through March, or as weather permits. Variable work shifts will be assigned include afternoon weekdays, weeknights, and weekends.
