JOB OPENING PUBLIC WORKS

The City of Benton, Illinois is looking to hire two (2) seasonal employees for the public works department according to section 16.3 of the union contract.

Duties include mowing and other jobs pertaining to street and water maintenance.

Must live within Franklin County, Illinois. Must be willing to submit to a possible drug test.

All applications/resumes should be turned in by April 22, 2026.

A seasonal/temporary employee shall not exceed 720 hours per year unless mutual agreement between the City and the Union is reached. A seasonal/temporary employee shall be compensated at the greater rate of $3.00 per hour less than the base rate of a regular full-time employee, or the current minimum wage.

Pay: $16.20 per hour
