We are looking for a hands-on, forward-thinking supervisor to help maintain plant operations and guide its growth. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys both the technical side of water operations and the natural beauty of Central Oregon. Your day might start in the watershed to check on ecosystem health, followed by overseeing the daily operations of our filtration facility, which includes managing wells, filters, pumps, and SCADA systems. You’ll also play a key role in exploring new opportunities like advanced pretreatment processes to make our water system more sustainable and efficient.
As the Water Filtration Facility Supervisor, you’ll lead a skilled team of operators, electricians, and technicians, ensuring everything runs smoothly and safely. You’ll assign work, manage time off, and oversee quality control, all while keeping an eye on budgets and long-term planning. This position touches everything from instruments and controls to asset management, facilities maintenance, and water rights. We're looking for someone who is organized, a strong communicator, and a natural leader and takes initiative and is dedicated to keeping Bend’s water systems running smoothly. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in water distribution and treatment, including pump maintenance, groundwater wells, and pressure reducing valves.
Someone whothrives in a leadership role, communicates clearly, stays organized, and takes initiative to ensure the smooth operation of water systems.
Has working knowledge of water distribution and treatment principles, including groundwater wells, pump systems, and pressure reducing valves.
Has skill in operating and maintaining water treatment and distribution equipment, troubleshooting mechanical systems, and supervising technical staff effectively.
Candidates who meet the listed minimum qualifications, including an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for an interview. - Provides strategic leadership and oversight for the operation, maintenance, and repair of the municipal water system, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory compliance.
- Ensures all operational activities meet federal, state, and local regulatory standards through rigorous quality assurance and compliance monitoring.
- Directs and mentors supervisory and technical personnel, fostering a high-performance culture centered on accountability, professional development, and operational excellence.
- Develops, implements, and enforces comprehensive operational policies, procedures, and performance standards to drive consistency, efficiency, and safety across all functions.
- Collaborates in the development and execution of departmental initiatives, long-range planning, and infrastructure investment strategies to support sustainable service delivery.
- Oversees the preparation and analysis of technical reports, operational data, and performance metrics to inform decision-making and support continuous improvement.
- Facilitates cross-functional collaboration with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated service delivery and resolution of complex operational challenges.
- Assists in the development and administration of the division’s budget, including resource allocation, expenditure monitoring, and cost optimization strategies.

- Possess or have ability to obtain within 12 months an Oregon Water Treatment 2 Certification
- Possess or have the ability to obtain within 12 months an Oregon Water Distribution 4 Certification.
- Current and valid Driver's license per City policies outlined in the Employee Handbook.
