JOB SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Assistant City Manager, the Parks & Recreation/Civic Center Manager plans, directs, coordinates and manages the operations and maintenance of the City's Civic Center and parks and recreation facilities. Implements, oversees, and manages a comprehensive Parks and Recreation system including operations, programs, and facilities to include the Civic Center. Supervises assigned department staff. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Five (5) years of progressive experience in parks and recreation operations, facility maintenance, event coordination, or event planning; including at least three (3) years of supervisory experience.
- Valid Class C Texas driver's license
- Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) Pesticide Applicator License appropriate for municipal park operations. This license must include authorization to apply herbicides, weed killers, and other chemical treatments for turf and ornamental landscape management. (Required at time of hire or must obtain within six (6) months of hire)
- One of the following operator certifications (or City-approved equivalent under 25 TAC § : NRPA Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO); PHTA Certified Pool & Spa Operator (CPO); ASPSA Licensed Aquatic Facility Technician (LAFT); or AquaTech Pool & Aquatic Facility Operator. (Required at time of hire or must obtain within six (6) months of hire)
Preferred:
- Completion of professional training courses or certifications in parks management, turf maintenance, event coordination, or related fields.
- Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP or NRPA)
