What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deputy City Clerk position at City of Belding?
DEPUTY CITY CLERK
THIS IS A PART-TIME POSITION WITH VARIED HOURS.
· Regular hours are approximately 15-20 hours per week, offering some flexibility
· In the 4-6 weeks prior to an election, up to 40 hours per week may be required
· Required to work in the polls every Election Day from beginning to end
· Applicant must have flexibility to work occasional evenings/weekends
SCOPE OF DUTIES TO BE PERFORMED:
· Prepare agenda packets and perform clerical duties including attending meetings and preparing minutes for Downtown Development Authority (DDA); Planning Commission, Recreation Advisory Board and Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA).
· Prepare agenda packets and perform clerical duties for the Belding City Council in the Clerk’s absence or as assigned.
· Maintain the QVF program
· Election support, including but not limited to, voting equipment set-up and testing, polling place set-up, issue absentee ballot applications and ballots, assist in election day preparation, order and maintain up-to-date election forms and supplies
· Liaison to Special Events Committee
· Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook)
· Outstanding Customer Service and Communication Skills
· Ability to make decisions
· Ability to work independently or as a team
· Organized and attentive to detail
· Possess the ability to meet deadlines while working under pressure, in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
· Ability to comprehend Michigan Election Laws, City Ordinances, City Charter and Board/Commission Bylaws
· Ability to lift 25 pounds
· Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
· Possess a valid Michigan Driver’s license
· Highschool Diploma or GED
· Possess or ability to obtain Election Accreditation through the Michigan Bureau of Elections, complete Qualified Voter Training (QVF) and Election Inspector Training within 45 days of employment
