SUMMARY

The Cultural Arts Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Cultural Art Supervisor in planning, organizing, and overseeing diverse cultural arts programs and events to enrich community engagement and promote cultural vitality. This role involves collaboration with local artists, organizations, and stakeholders to develop inclusive and innovative arts events. The coordinator takes primary responsibility for organizing community art classes at Old Bedford School and various locations. The coordinator contributes to the planning and oversight of signature Cultural Arts events in collaboration with Cultural Arts Supervisor including:

 

  • Holi Festival, (March)
  • Craft Fair & Market at the Bedford Senior Activity Center, (March)
  • Bedford in Bloom Spring Concert Series, (May)
  • Juneteenth Celebration, (June)
  • Art at the Park Festival, (October)
  • Bedford Rhythms Fall Concert Series, (October)

 

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Oversee and synchronize artists, vendors, food trucks, and entertainment for Cultural Arts events and programs, ensuring all required permits and inspections are current.
  2. Supervise volunteers involved in cultural arts programming, ensuring effective support.
  3. Assist in creation and design of promotional materials for events, projects, and any other related needs for the Department.
  4. Assist the Cultural Arts Supervisor with multiple aspects of exhibits and art installations, including communicating with artists and the public, and hanging/handling artwork.
  5. Execute additional duties assigned to support the department’s cultural arts objectives.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor degree in Fine Arts or Performing Arts, and one (1) year of related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Texas Driver’s License.
