Essential Job Functions: Oversees, leads, and actively participates in the daily activities of water meter personnel responsible for replacing, repairing, testing, and calibrating residential and commercial water meters throughout the City; ensuring efficient and accurate system performance; monitors workflow, reviews and evaluates work output, and ensures productivity standards are met across both field and office operations, managing office operations related to materials, inventory, and meter testing, including ordering parts and maintaining appropriate stock levels; supervises assigned personnel, including training, scheduling, performance evaluation, and disciplinary recommendations, and coordinates work activities with other departments to ensure efficient service delivery and project completion.

This position requires 100% on-site work. Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. On call and overtime when necessary. Exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, dust/mites hazards, warehouse environment, storeroom environment, gas vapors, open office environment, working outdoors.Knowledge: Knowledge of water utility operations, and meter systems. Knowledge of inventory control and materials management. Knowledge of applicable safety regulations, City codes, and ordinances. Knowledge of personnel management principles and practices.
Skills/Abilities:Ability to supervise and lead staff effectively. Ability to analyze data and troubleshoot meter and billing issues. Ability to communicate effectively with staff, other departments, and the public, including handling difficult or upset customers. Ability to operate computers, work management systems, and meter reading technologies. Ability to make sound decisions and manage multiple priorities.
Physical Requirements: Frequently operates a personal computer, types, enters data, sees, sorts, sits; frequently files, stands, writes by hand, drives; infrequently operates a calculator kneels, cleans, carries objects weighing up to 10 lbs., climbs, lifts objects weighing up to 20 lbs., squats, stoops and walks.
Education/Experience: Graduation from high school; experience in personal computer and Windows, two (2) years’ experience supervising outdoor personnel; courses in Public Relations, Customer Service and Personnel or related subjects preferred.
This position requires 100% on-site work. Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License Class C with a good driving record, reliable transportation and proof of liability insurance. Applicant selected for hire will be subject to a background investigation and drug/alcohol screen test.
