This position requires 100% on-site work. Works inside and outside in all kinds of weather; exposed to the possibility of electrical shocks, bruises, cuts, and broken bones; subjected to untreated sludge, noise, chemicals, and gases. Working under and above ground several feet. Must be available to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; occasional shift work; subject to 24 hour call and overtime when necessary. Must be available to work during hurricanes and other types of disasters.
Knowledge: Knowledge of practices, methods, materials, and equipment used in electronic installations, complex relay logic, maintenance, repair, and testing; knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work; knowledge of PLC, preferably Allen-Bradley equipment; knowledge of PC operations. HMI development.Skills/Abilities: Ability to perform tasks listed above unassisted; ability to assemble complex control panels and systems. Ability to detect and correct defects in various types of electronic, instrumentation, and electrical equipment; ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to interpret blueprints, sketches, and diagrams; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees; skill in the use and maintenance of electronic equipment, 480 volt control systems, and testing devices. Troubleshoot and work safely with 2400 volt motor control systems.
Physical Requirements: Constantly sees and hears; frequently stands, stoops, bends, climbs, and lift heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to distinguish colors.
Education/Experience:
Graduation from a college, university, or accredited technical training institution with a two-year associate degree in electronics, supplemented by specialized training. Approximately five (5) years experience with progressive responsibility in the repair and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, abilities, and skills. College degree may be substituted for work experience. Electrical license preferred.
Other: This position requires 100% on-site work. Must possess a valid Class C driver’s license with a good driving record. Must possess a TCEQ Class C (or better) Surface Water License.
