Graphic Design Technician - Part TIme

Bring our community to life. Join the City of Baytown Parks & Recreation team as a Graphic Design Technician! In this part-time role, you’ll help create eye-catching flyers, signs, and social-media content to promote local events, summer programs, and athletic leagues, while also supporting operations from registrations to field setup at our community and sports centers. If you love creativity, enjoy working with people of all ages, and have a knack for social media and design tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite, this could be the perfect fit for you.

The graphic design technician will support recreational marketing by creating flyers, signs, and advertisements, and social media content that promotes community events and programs. This part-time position will assist the Parks and Recreation Department in a variety of areas to include special events, summer programs, athletic leagues, office management, preparation of promotional materials, and all other job related duties for the department.

• Assists the Parks and Recreation Department staff with a variety of special events, summer programs, and athletic leagues.
• Assists the Parks and Recreation Department staff with daily activities and set-ups coordinated by the department at the Community Center and the Wayne Gray Sports Complex.
• Assists Parks and Recreation Department staff with the set-up, take-down, and inventory of equipment and supplies for the department activities and programs.
• Assists with preparing and distributing promotional materials, communicating with citizens, city employees, businesses, organizations and media, and helping to secure volunteers.
• Assists the Parks and Recreation Department staff with the daily operation of the main office to include answering phones, taking registrations, reserving facilities, and maintaining office equipment and supplies.
• Assists the Parks and Recreation Department staff with periodic field maintenance duties to include dragging the fields, raking the fields, chalking the fields, and applying drying agents.
• Performs all other related duties as assigned.
  
  

Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
• Must be 18 years of age.
• Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record (ability to obtain TX Driver’s license within 90 days).
• Must enjoy working with the public.
• Ability to carry out written or oral instructions.
• Ability to speak to people in a friendly, welcoming and helpful manner.
• Some experience in Canva and Adobe Creative Suite Software
  
  

Preferred

• Knowledge of social media content specs and formatting
• Basic skills in capturing video and photo content (on a phone or camera)
  
  

Ability to assist with special events, athletics, and recreation activities. Good interpersonal skills, and ability to perform multiple tasks. Must be able to work indoors and outdoors. Ability to get along appropriately with co-workers and the public (of all age groups).
