Duties
- Enforce local laws, traffic regulations, criminal statutes, and ordinances through patrols, investigations, and citations.
- Conduct criminal investigations by gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing detailed reports in accordance with evidence law and criminal procedure.
- Perform arrest procedures following established protocols while ensuring the safety of all parties involved.
- Respond swiftly to emergency calls, provide first aid or CPR when necessary, and coordinate with emergency responders.
- Utilize surveillance tools and conduct thorough searches using search and seizure laws to gather evidence legally and effectively.
- Manage traffic stops, enforce DUI laws, and operate standard passenger vehicles safely under various conditions.
- Apply conflict management techniques and use of force training to de-escalate situations while maintaining procedural law compliance.
- Document incidents accurately through report writing, maintain detailed logs, and ensure all records are compliant with departmental standards.
- Engage in community policing efforts by building positive relationships with residents, local organizations, and other stakeholders.
Experience
- Proven experience in law enforcement or military service with demonstrated knowledge of criminal law, criminal investigation techniques, and procedural law.
- Valid certification as a police officer from an accredited law enforcement training program.
- Familiarity with traffic laws, evidence handling procedures, search and seizure laws, immigration law basics, and local ordinances.
- Strong background in firearms handling specific to law enforcement standards along with use of force training certifications.
- Experience in report writing that clearly documents investigations, incidents, arrests, and court proceedings.
- Physical conditioning capable of meeting the demands of patrol duties including running, lifting, and prolonged periods of standing or walking.
- Skills in surveillance operations, conflict management strategies, first aid protocols including CPR and first aid certification.
- Knowledge of animal handling when responding to related incidents or community concerns.
- Ability to operate a standard passenger car safely under diverse environmental conditions while maintaining alertness during long shifts.
