The Battle Creek Housing Commission (BCHC) is accepting applications for the position of General Maintenance Technician. Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, this role is responsible for the upkeep and repair of BCHC facilities, including general maintenance, cleaning, painting, minor electrical and plumbing repairs, lawn care, and other related property maintenance tasksPhysical Requirements & Work Environment

- Knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in general maintenance work.
- Familiarity with power tools, mechanical operations, and groundskeeping equipment.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, initiative, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Must provide own basic tools for maintenance tasks.
- Must pass a drug screening and criminal background check.
- Frequent standing, bending, lifting, and working in various weather conditions.
- Use of hand and power tools for extended periods.
- Occasional work in confined spaces and at heights
