What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Authority of Calhoun County (TACC) - Scheduler position at City of Battle Creek (MI)?
The Transportation Authority of Calhoun County (TACC) is look for a Schedule who will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing daily and long-range service schedules for RC FLEX and RC MOVE. Working closely with the Dispatch team, the Scheduler ensures that service is delivered safely, efficiently and in full compliance with TACC standards. This position also works closely with the Mobility Manager to assist with scheduling services on an as needed basis. This position may require work on holidays and weekends.• Research and analyze scheduled trip requests using scheduling software; schedule trips based on rider requests and service policies.
• Ensure trips meet ADA or agency-specific eligibility criteria.
• Match trip requests to a route/run that will ensure timely pick-up from origin or arrival to destination.
• Analyze batched trip(s) to ensure they are optimized on the assigned route.
• Proactively monitor trip performance, vehicle location, and schedule adherence.
• Research and correct schedule violations, incorrect vehicle capacities, and trips requested outside of the defined service area.
• Provide exceptional customer service, assistance, and trip planning to passengers and callers; demonstrating empathy for and awareness of customer needs.
• Provide a variety of public transportation information to passengers, the public, and other organizations, responding to inquiries and requests for service in a courteous manner.
• Keep Administrative Supervisor apprised of all matters affecting operations, capacity, or on-time performance.
• Verify rider information and collect information necessary for the requested trip, including payment information.
• Generate reports and dashboards on service performance metrics, including on-time performance, run efficiency and operator utilization.
• Coordinate with Operations and Dispatch to resolve day-to-day schedule conflicts, missed assignments, or service disruptions.
• Maintain knowledge/proficiency of the service area, current routes/services offered, and demand-response transportation system software.
• Adapt to flexible scheduling needs within the Operations division to ensure sufficient coverage when necessary.• High school diploma or GED.
• 1 to 2 years in a public transportation position as a driver, dispatcher, mechanic or similar role.
• Demonstrated experience providing exceptional customer service and work with the public.
• Strong computer skills with proven competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.This work is sedentary and requires little to no exertion of force; work regularly requires sitting, bending, reaching, hand dexterity (grasping, holding, keyboarding, repetitive movements), reading, writing, eye-hand coordination, seeing (near and/or far, color, depth, field of vision), hearing, using the telephone, contact with government officials and the general public, working overtime, and working inside and alone. The incumbent will be exposed to diesel exhaust and/or airborne particles.
