If you enjoy working in a fun and fast paced environment and helping people, come join the City of Bastrop's Parks and Recreation Department as the Recreation Center Receptionist. This is a part-time position that includes working on Saturday's and not work more than 20 hours per week.
Under general supervision of the Parks and Recreation Director, provides customer service support and performs entry level clerical work in supporting daily functions of the Recreation Center. Employees in this class are capable of greeting the public, answering a multi-line phone system, responding to phone inquiries, scheduling/coordinating parks and pavilion rentals, providing general information to the public, and light janitorial duties. Employees in this class must be capable of resolving a wide range of non-routine issues and concerns that arise both internally and within the community. Performs related work as directed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides assistance to the public for Recreation Center, parks, and other general inquiries.
- Provides excellent customer service in greeting the public, responding to telephone inquiries, and providing general information.
- Answers multi-line telephone system.
- Assists and checks in members.
- Accepts and processes payments for park and facility rentals.
- Orders office supplies as needed. Performs basic cleaning duties (i.e., dusting and sweeping).
- Is knowledgeable on current and future Recreation Center programs and events.
- Provides support to Recreation Coordinator.
- Maintains professionalism.
- Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work hours is essential.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
- Some knowledge of routine clerical functions.
- Some knowledge of record maintenance principles and practices.
- Ability to understand simple oral and written instructions.
- Skill with personal computer, standard office software, basic keyboarding and internet searching.
- Ability to learn Recreation Center operations, policies and clerical procedures.
- Ability to serve the public with patience, tact, courtesy, and integrity.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, fellow employees, volunteers, and the public.
EDUCATION, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE
- Competent computer skills including MS Office.
- Internet skills including use of emails and group messaging.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) is preferred but not required.
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
- Possess a valid Texas Driver License with a satisfactory driving record.
- CPR and AED Certification. Can be obtained when employed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Most tasks are essentially sedentary, with occasional standing, walking, bending, light to moderate lifting (20-50 pounds), driving a vehicle, or other restricted physical activities.
- Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation and/or basic janitorial work.
SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
- Some tasks may require sound perception and differentiation and visual perception and differentiation.
- Tasks require oral communications ability.
