THE POSITION:
Under administrative oversight, provides administrative and operational support services and carries out program goals for the Board of Directors of the Police Activity League; organizes, plans and implements various youth prevention and intervention programs and activities; conducts recreation and after-school programs, special events and educational programs; maintains records and promotes program activities; serves as liaison between departments, community members and groups in the community on related services; and performs related work as required.
Representative Duties
The following typical tasks and responsibilities are representative of this class. They are descriptive, not limiting. Essential Duties: Coordinates with the Police Department in providing the Police Activities League (PAL) with a wide variety of technical support functions, administrative duties, and program planning related to daily operations and Board of Directors guidance; Prepares, distributes, and maintains agendas, minutes, and records, and ensures timely follow-up on Board of Directors actions; Assists in developing and implementing budget for assigned facility or program and executes associated fiscal actions; Leads, organizes, and implements services and activities for the community including but not limited to: sports, recreation, wellness and academic programs; Works with various community based organizations, neighborhood groups, civil groups, schools, youth organizations and other groups to enhance communications and department relationships; Supervises youth while at the PAL Center after-school program and attends PAL events; Assists with fund-raising events and activities to promote funding for PAL programs.
Minimum Qualifications

- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in education, public relations, communications, or related field; AND
- Four (4) years’ experience of increasingly responsible office administrative experience requiring high contact with public; OR
- An equivalent combination of education, training, certification and experience which provides the capabilities to perform the described duties.
- Possession of a valid California Class “C” driver's license.

EXAMINATION (Weighted: 100%) January 21, 2026 (Tentative): An appraisal will be made of the applicant's experience, education, training, certification, knowledge, skills, abilities, and personal qualifications for the position. A minimum passing score of 70% is required.
