Interviews are tentatively scheduled to take place beginning in January and will run through Spring 2026 or until all positions are filled. Now Hiring:
- Shallow Water Lifeguard – Keep a watchful eye in the shallow end, ensuring fun and safety for all.
- Lifeguard – From the shallow end to the deep end, enjoy dispatching water slides, monitoring guests’ safety, and watching swim teams.
- Swim Lesson Instructor – Lifeguard and teach new skills, boost confidence, and make a difference in swimmers' lives.

Season Schedule
Spring Season (March – May)- Weekday mornings 5 – 7:30 am and evenings 5 – 7:30 pm and weekends 7 am – 7 pm
- Trainings on Monday evenings and Saturday mornings
Summer Season (June – July)
- Weekdays 5 am – 10 pm and weekends 7 am – 10 pm
- Trainings on Friday mornings
Fall Season (August – October)
- Weekday mornings 5 – 7:30 am and evenings 2 – 7:30 pm, and weekends 7 am – 7 pm
- Trainings on Monday evenings or Sunday mornings

Shallow Water Lifeguard - Pay: $15.91
- Supports daily program operations of the Avondale Aquatic Center, including monitoring the safety of patrons utilizing the facility, educating patrons on safe facility conduct, and, as needed, providing life-saving rescues for patrons in distress up to 4 feet in depth.
- Lifeguard Certification and CPR for the Professional Rescuer (required within 30 days of hire)
- Must be at least 15 years old by January 31, 2026
- No prior experience required
- Supports daily program operations of the Avondale Aquatic Center, including monitoring the safety of patrons utilizing the facility, educating patrons on safe facility conduct, and as needed, providing life-saving rescues for patrons in distress up to 12.5 feet in depth.
- Lifeguard Certification and CPR for the Professional Rescuer (required within 30 days of hire)
- Must be at least 16 years old upon hire
- No prior experience required
- Oversees and ensures the safety, instruction, and maintenance of a City-operated swimming pool by leading educational activities, enforcing rules, performing rescues, administering first aid, maintaining facilities, and handling cash transactions.
- Lifeguard Certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and Swim Lesson Instructor (SLI) Certification or equivalent (all required within 30 days of hire)
- Must be at least 16 years old upon hire
- No prior experience required
- Supports daily program operations of the Avondale Aquatic Center, including assisting with the supervision of pool activities, scheduling, assigning personnel to duty locations, and ensuring proper Lifeguard coverage.
- Lifeguard Certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and Swim Lesson Instructor (SLI) or equivalent (required by date of hire)
- At least three (3) months of experience as a lifeguard/swim instructor, directing activities at swimming pools.
- High school diploma or GED required by May 2026
