Minimum Qualifications
Education and / or Equivalent Experience :
- Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a related field, plus six (6) years of experience, including three (3) years of experience in a leadership or management capacity.
- Graduation with a Master's degree from an accredited college or university may substitute for two (2) years of leadership or managerial experience.
- For Field Operations & Customer Service Division Manager ONLY : Experience may substitute for education up to a maximum of four (4) years.

POSITION OVERVIEW :
This posting is seeking to fill two Division Manager Positions within the Watershed Protection Departments Operations Branch.
The 1st position will manage the Open Waterways and Erosion Programs within the Open Systems Division of the Watershed Protection Department's Operations Branch responsible for maintaining 850 miles of natural and engineered channels in Austin. This position is tasked with managing the general operation, maintenance, and erosion repair activities that include multiple teams and resources, including vehicles, equipment, contractuals, and materials. The position is tasked with support of the Stream Restoration Program through the coordination of regular maintenance and large scale erosion control projects. In addition, this position is tasked with providing oversight of emergency responses before, during and after storm events including but not limited to staffing crews to barricade flooded low water crossings, removing debris and other obstructions from creek channels and other drainage infrastructure.
The 2nd position will manage the Storm Drain Cleaning, CCTV Inspection, Concrete and Storm Drain Construction programs within the Closed Systems Division of the Watershed Protection Department's Operations Branch responsible for maintaining 1100 miles of storm drains, and 30,000 storm drain inlets, and 8,400 of Manholes. This position is tasked with managing the general operation, maintenance, and construction repair activities that includes multiple teams and resources, that includes vehicles, equipment, contractuals, and materials. The position is tasked with support of the Field Engineering and Local Flood Risk Reduction programs through the coordination of regular maintenance and large scale storm drain projects. In addition, this position is tasked with providing oversight of emergency responses before, during and after storm events including but not limited to staffing crews to responded flooding calls associated removing debris and other obstructions from drainage infrastructure.
Each position will be tasked with maintenance of the assets listed above and community engagement by equitably and effectively managing a team of 40-50 FTEs, several temporary employees, outside contractors, fleet equipment, facilities, public-private partnerships, and reporting to the state, local, and federal regulatory agencies as required.

In the event of a city-designated extraordinary situation or emergency condition, essential employees provide services that impact the public health, safety, utility services, and welfare of members of the Austin community and other employees, as well as ensure the continuity of essential operations. Essential Employees may be called back in during such events, required to modify their schedule, assigned to a City-designated work site, or retained on-site to assist with operations and recovery.

This position requires a valid Texas Class C Driver License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin's Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.
