- Recreation Program Leader II
Recreation Assistant Duties
Support our youth biking programs by:
- Assisting with learn-to-ride and mountain bike skills workshops
- Leading small groups in fun, skill-building activities
- Encouraging participation and creating a positive, inclusive environment
- Helping with basic bike maintenance (inflating tires, helmet fitting, gear checks)
- Supporting community events and outreach
- Acting as a mentor and role model for youth
Recreation Program Leader II Duties:
Take on a leadership role by:
- Leading mountain bike rides and skills instruction
- Designing and implementing program curriculum
- Training and supervising part-time staff and volunteers
- Managing equipment inventory and maintenance
- Building relationships with schools and community partners
- Supporting community events and outreach
- Tracking program metrics and maintaining records
**Mountain biking experience is appreciated but not required for all roles.
What We're Looking forRecreation Assistant
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Passion for working with youth.
- Positive attitude and team spirit.
- Ability to pass a background check completed by the City of Auburn.
- Ability to complete First Aid/CPR.
Recreation Program Leader II
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Ability to pass a background check completed by the City of Auburn.
- Strong mountain biking, road biking and leadership skills.
- Self-starter with program development experience.
- Ability to complete First Aid/CPR.
- Clean driving record and ability to drive a passenger van. Training is provided.
Recreation Assistant Additional Details and Duties:
- Bike Maintenance Assistance- inflating tires, sizing helmets, managing gear, bike repairs, etc.
- Ride Leader- lead youth on mountain bike trails, assist with basic skills instruction, assist with assessing participant skill levels. *Mountain Bike experience is required in this role.
- Assist the Program Supervisor with small group skill building, mountain biking skills, encourage youth, engage with all youth participants.
- Special Events- assist with set up and tear down of community outreach events around bike skills and bike safety, assist with helmet fittings, answer questions from the public, lead stations/activities as required.
Recreation Program Leader II Additional Details and Duties:
- Oversee the tracking of bikes and equipment for inventory purposes
- Keep records of maintenance and equipment usage
- Assist the Program Coordinator with training of part time staff and volunteers
- Conduct bike maintenance as necessary
- Plan and implement program curriculum
- Measure program metrics in partnership with the Recreation Coordinator
- Ride Leader- lead youth on mountain bike trails and/or on community rides, assist with basic skills instruction, assist with assessing participant skill levels.
- Design and facilitate program lesson plans.
- Special Events- assist with set up and tear down of community outreach events around bike skills and bike safety, assist with helmet fittings, answer questions from the public, lead stations/activities as required.
- Provide day-to-day, on-site supervision of recreation assistants and volunteers.
- Maintain program records including: attendance, sign-in/sign-out sheets, and incident reports.
- Basic trail maintenance as needed.
