The City of Arnold is seeking an experienced and dynamic Community Development Director to lead and manage the City’s planning, zoning, building, and development functions. This is a key leadership role responsible for shaping the growth and future of our community while ensuring excellent customer service, compliance with regulations, and collaboration with citizens, developers, and government agencies.
Key Responsibilities
· Provide leadership and direction for all Community Development operations.
· Manage staff, budgets, and resources to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
· Oversee land use, planning, zoning, permitting, code enforcement, and inspections.
· Evaluate development proposals and provide professional planning advice to City leadership, boards, and commissions.
· Coordinate with developers, contractors, citizens, and partner agencies to support responsible growth and development.
· Administer grant programs, including Community Development Block Grants (CDBG).
· Attend and present at City Council, Planning Commission, and other public meetings.
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, urban planning, or related field.
· Minimum of 5 years’ experience in public administration, community development, planning, or related work.
Desired Skills & Abilities
· Strong leadership, supervisory, and communication skills.
· Knowledge of planning, zoning, building codes, and development regulations.
· Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and make effective presentations.
· Collaborative approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
