Overview
Are you passionate about swimming and eager to inspire others? As a Swim Instructor, you'll play a vital role in teaching individuals of all ages how to swim safely and confidently. You’ll create a fun and engaging environment while promoting water safety and skill development. Your enthusiasm will motivate students as they learn essential swimming techniques, ensuring they enjoy every splash!
What you’ll do
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to various skill levels, from beginners to advanced swimmers.
- Instruct students on proper swimming techniques, including strokes, breathing, and safety practices.
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance their skills.
- Ensure a safe swimming environment by enforcing rules and maintaining vigilant supervision.
- Collaborate with parents or guardians to discuss student progress and address any concerns.
- Conduct water safety demonstrations and educate students on emergency procedures.
- Participate in ongoing training sessions to stay updated on best practices in swim instruction and safety
- Assists with Recreation Center special events as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
Basic qualifications
- Strong background in teaching or coaching sports, particularly swimming or martial arts.
- Experience working with students of various ages, including children, in a recreational or educational setting.
Education, Qualifications and Experience Required:
- A minimum of 15 years of age (would need workers permit)
- Available to work Tuesday, Thursdays and Saturdays
- Works inside and outside during varying weather conditions with other staff members.
- Have reliable transportation
- Must be able to complete a drug test, background check, and physical by the City of Arnold Parks and Recreation
- CPR Certified (If not, willing to obtain once hired)
- Must be available and flexible to work various hours during the week, weekends, and holidays
