Description

Performs semi-skilled maintenance work in the Sewer Collection Division of the City in the maintenance and repair of sewer lines, due to leaks, clearing obstructions, other construction, repair items, etc. Position requires after normal business hours, on-call and work on appointed weekends

Duties

  • Assist with repairs, projects and preventative maintenance of all machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain and repair sewer lines; repair and replace sewer lines due to leaks; unclog sewer lines; lay new sewer lines as required.
  • Operate pneumatic and hand tools; operate all equipment and trucks; clean and maintain equipment.
  • Must be able to explain and take directions via phone from Supervisor and Warehouse Storekeeper, when necessary for needed repairs
  • Help maintain a parts inventory
  • Must be able to work without supervision; must be able to work "on-call".
  • Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED,
Certificates and Licenses:
  • Valid Driver’s License. Must have or be able to obtain CDL within 12 months.
  • Must have or be able to obtain within 12 months ODEQ Class "D" Distribution and Collection Operator License or higher

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Knowledge of State and DEQ regulations governing the operation of a wastewater collection systems.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with supervisors, peers, and the general public, both verbally and in written form; must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Must be organized, efficient, creative and capable of implementing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must have basic math skills.

This job has been classified as a “safety sensitive” position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations, the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act and/or Oklahoma Medical Marijuana laws. In this position, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, which might include random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a Medical Marijuana license will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for Marijuana.
