What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plumbing Inspector position at City of Appleton Wisconsin?
JOB REQUIREMENTS: ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Reviews plans for building and
plumbing installations for compliance of codes prior to issuance of
permits. Reviews and writes permits. Performs on-site inspections of
various phases of construction to ensure compliance as required by
Wisconsin Administrative & Building codes and City ordinances and
policies. Investigates complaints, with follow-up if necessary. Consults
with property owners, builders, architects, and engineers to resolve
problems and complaints regarding code application and interpretation.
Completes daily inspection reports. Partakes in the activities of
various inspection department boards, committees, or review teams.
Confers with other City department personnel on areas of code or policy
overlap. Maintains regular punctual and predictable attendance, works
overtime and extra hours as required. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS Assists with
storm damage assessment when needed. Acts as a witness in court actions
for compliance of orders issued for various violations. Initiates
noncompliance orders, citations, and other enforcement actions when
necessary. Oversees record maintenance, report preparation and
permit/report data entry into computer files. \*\*\*\*\* OTHER
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Requirements of Work Considerable
experience in the plumbing trade, a Journeyman Plumbing License or
Master Plumber License and the ability to obtain Commercial Plumbing
Inspector credential by the Department of Safety and Professional
Services (DSPS) and in accordance with DSPS 305.625. The following
knowledge, abilities and skills are also required: Considerable
knowledge of the principles and practices of building and plumbing code.
Thorough knowledge of State and City plumbing and UDC building codes.
Knowledge of computer applications. Ability to read and interpret plans
and specifications. Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with other employees and the public, and to deal with the
public in a courteous and tactful manner. Ability to interpret quality
of building materials and their application. Ability to prepare and
maintain accurate records. Ability to investigate complaints and resolve
them and or, if necessary, initiate appropriate compliance action. Valid
driver\'s license. Ability to obtain UDC building inspection
