GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Provides supervision for assigned aquatic facility. Assists in the physical operation of the pool, such as ensuring chemical levels are appropriate and pool deck is safe and free of obstructions. Monitors and Supervises Aquatic Facilities, providing for a safe environment. Work is carried out under the general direction of the Camp Manager. Work is reviewed through observation and consultation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Supervise and guard aquatic facilities, as assigned.
- Lead swim instruction in accordance with guidelines.
- Assist with aquatic facility maintenance.
- Enforces facility safety rules and regulations.
- Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Must be able to communicate with the public and staff in a professional manner.
- Must be able to clearly communicate in writing and orally, perform accurate work and make sound decisions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work in outdoor environment with exposure to extreme weather, wooded area, insects, wildlife.
- Ability to effectively communicate.
- Ability to travel on rough terrain, through wooded areas, and on trails.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Current and valid Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid Certification required.
EQUIPMENT USED
Water safety and lifeguard equipment/tools, life vests, canoes/kayaks, pool pumps and water chemical test kits, communication equipment, computers, adding machine, typewriter, copy machine, multi-line phone system, fax machine, hand tools, variety of sports equipment, and various motor vehicles.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work requires constant public contact, use of the telephone, reading, writing, typing, very frequent walking, sitting, standing, swimming, and occasional lifting of 40 lbs., bending, stooping, running, pushing, pulling, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching overhead. Works frequently in extreme weather.
JOB LOCATION
Primarily located at Camp Wewa, 221 S. Binion Road, Apopka, FL 32703. May work at any City owned buildings, parks, grounds and recreation facilities. All off-site locations and facilities utilized as part of the City's participation or involvement in an event, activity or job assignment.
