Job Description

The City of Americus is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Heavy Equipment Operator . The beginning salary for this position is $29,636.00 annually ($14.25/hr.).

Responsibilities for this position include driving/operating heavy construction equipment and trucks in support of public works street maintenance and construction projects. Work involves loading, transporting and unloading materials and equipment to and from work sites; and operating heavy equipment in order to construct, repair and maintain City water and sewer infrastructure and related services.

Qualifications

Requirements include High School Diploma or its recognized equivalent GED; supplemented by one year of experience operating and driving heavy construction equipment in support of maintenance projects; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia  Driver’s License. A CDL is a plus.
