SALARY: $16.00 per hour
SUMMARY
This position performs set-ups for various events (risers, tables, chairs, etc.); performs general cleaning duties in the Civic Center Complex; assists clients with information using the Civic Center Complex; and maintains equipment used in job functions. This position is required to work shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, and during inclement weather. This position is considered weather essential personnel.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Erects stages, performs set-ups (risers, tables, chairs, etc.) for banquets, meetings, and other events using the Civic Center Complex.
- Assists clients using the Civic Center Complex with information or as directed.
- Cleans and sanitizes restrooms.
- Sweeps, mops or dust mops floors.
- Vacuums and shampoos carpeted areas.
- Safely mixes and handles various cleaning chemicals. Responsible for knowledge of SDS procedures.
- Ensures protection of area for safety.
- Empties and disposes of trash.
- Dusts walls, fixtures, and furniture.
- Cleans windows and doors.
- Replaces light bulbs and cleans fixtures as needed.
- Maintains equipment used in the job functions such as vacuum cleaner, floor sweepers, etc.
- Performs minor maintenance.
- Reports equipment, maintenance or safety problems through Building Attendant II or III.
- Unlocks doors prior to events and locks after event as directed.
- Displays flags daily.
- Provides quality customer service to lessees, patrons and guests.
- Performs snow removal at entrances and walkways adjacent to the building.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent. Previous custodial experience preferred. Valid Texas Driver’s License is preferred, not required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Ability to move, set up and take down risers, tables and chairs.
- Ability to operate and make minor repairs to cleaning equipment and machinery, such as vacuum cleaners and carpet cleaning equipment, powered sweepers or scrubbers, floor buffers and use of hand tools such as mops, brooms, dust mops, window cleaning tools, maid cart with all types of cleaning supplies.
- Ability to safely operate a forklift, scissor lift or genie lift.
- Ability to read and understand simple verbal instructions.
- Ability to work long hours, split shifts, nights, weekends and holidays is required.
