Job Announcement:
Under general supervision, the purpose of this position is to coordinate, supervise and administer all fitness, sports and health related programs, activities, and special events for the Alvin Community. Provides customer service, hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers in the Health and Fitness division. This position may include service or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of the job during emergency situations for the benefit of the public. The coordinator is under the direct supervision of the Recreation Superintendent. The Recreation Coordinator directly supervises full and part-time staff, volunteers and manages contracts with individuals and organizations. This includes seasonal and part-time health and fitness staff and instructors.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma/GED plus 2 years of increasingly responsible recreation and community services experience including 1 year of administrative and supervisory responsibility. Experience in group fitness and sports management, contracts and marketing information is required.
- Current Red Cross CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain.
- One or more current group exercise certifications – example: Zumba, Yoga, Body Pump.
- Current training/experience in sports officiating.
- Sports management training desirable.
- Certified Personal Trainer desirable.
- Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) desirable.
Salary:
Starting Salary: $17.98 an hour
