Lead Line Maintenance Worker
City of Alma, Arkansas — Water Department
Status: Full-Time | Reports to: Operations Supervisor
Location: Alma, Arkansas | On-Call Overtime Required
Position Overview
The Lead Line Maintenance Worker directs and participates in the daily operations of the line maintenance team to ensure reliable water distribution and sewer collection services throughout the City of Alma. This role combines crew leadership, hands-on maintenance, and safe operation of field equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, schedule, and train line maintenance personnel
- Perform skilled maintenance, repair, and replacement on distribution and collection systems
- Operate heavy equipment including backhoes as required
- Oversee crew safety practices and compliance with regulations
- Conduct utility line locates and assist with new service installations
- Maintain accurate documentation and service records
- Participate in on-call and emergency rotation as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or ability to obtain
- Arkansas Grade III Water Distribution License required at hire
- Ability to perform physical outdoor labor in varying conditions
- Strong teamwork, communication, and leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with water distribution and sewer system maintenance
- Skilled backhoe and heavy equipment operation
- Prior crew lead or supervisory experience
