The purpose of this position is to ensure a high level of customer service to patrons. This is accomplished by organizing and coordinating memberships, responding to patron inquiries, providing customer service to members, assisting with front desk operations, completing new member contracts, and supervising staff. Other duties may include answering phones, opening and closing the facility, training employees, and interfacing with other City employees and citizens. This position provides direction to other employees.

- Supervise, train, and lead lifeguard staff, including interviewing, onboarding, scheduling, payroll management, performance evaluation, coaching, and administering disciplinary actions when necessary.
- Serve as Manager on Duty, providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship while promoting accountability, professionalism, and high standards of safety and guest service.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, industry standards, and certification requirements, including American Red Cross Lifeguarding standards.
- Coordinate and conduct in-service training.
- Enforce facility rules and policies promptly and courteously, while coaching staff to do the same.
- Oversee daily facility operations, including opening and closing procedures, front desk organization, cash handling, and reconciliation of daily transactions.
- Perform daily inspections of the facility, including mechanical systems, aquatic attractions, and equipment to ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper functionality.
- Monitor and adjust water chemistry and notify management of any mechanical, safety, or operational issues.
- Assistwith preventative maintenance and work with staff and vendors to resolve maintenance and repair issues ina timely, safe, and cost-effective manner.
- Respond to emergencies by activating Emergency Action Plans (EAPs), administering first aid, and completing required post-incident documentation.
- Maintain accurate records and reports, including chemical logs, incident/accident reports, maintenance requests, and daily operational documentation.
- Support budget tracking, supply ordering, and report preparation while assisting in meeting facility financial goals and business plans.
- Assist with facility scheduling, program coordination, and implementation ofspecial events, rentals, and after-hours activities.
- Provide excellent customer service by responding to inquiries, resolving concerns, and ensuring a safe and welcoming environment.
- Promote facility amenities, programs, and services to members and guests.
- Ability to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, andspecial events.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Education & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation or related field plus one (1) year of relevant work experience.
- Associate's degree plus five (5) years of revelant work experience.
- High School Diploma or equivalent plus nine (9) years of revelant work experience.
Conditions of Employment
- Safe driving record and Valid Texas Driver’s License
- Clear criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen
- Possess or able to obtain CPR/First Air Certification within 30 days of employment. Certification must remain valid for the duration of employment.
- Posses an American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification. Certification must remain valid for the duration of employment.
- Possess an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification. Certification must remain valid for the duration of employment.
- Possess or able to obtain a Certified Pool Operator Certification within 90 days of employment. Certification must remain valid for the duration of employment.
- This is a full-time non-exempt position with benefits.
- Hours may vary including weekends

Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Frequently stands, walks, bends, kneels, and reaches while supervising staff and performing facility tasks.
- Regularly lifts, carries, pushes, or pulls equipment, supplies, or materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Requires manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate facility equipment, cash handling systems, and recreational tools.
- Must have visual and auditory ability to monitor staff, patrons, and emergency situations.
- Occasionally works in wet, slippery, or uneven conditions when performing facility checks or emergency response duties.
- Ability to respond quickly to emergencies, including entering pool areas or performing first aid if necessary.
- Primarily works in an indoor recreational facility with exposure to pool areas, locker rooms, and mechanical/equipment rooms.
- Exposure to outdoor environments for special events, facility maintenance, or program support.
- Noise levels range from moderate to high, including patrons, equipment, and event activities.
- May be exposed to chemical cleaning agents, pool chemicals, and other facility maintenance materials.
- Work requires frequent interaction with staff, patrons, vendors, and the public, including handling complaints or sensitive situations.
- Schedule may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts as needed to support facility operations.
- Knowledge of parks and recreation operations, including facility management, program development, and safety procedures.
- Knowledge of American Red Cross Lifeguarding standards, emergency response procedures, and first aid/CPR.
- Ability to supervise, train, evaluate, and coach staff effectively.
- Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills to address patron concerns and complaints.
- Ability to plan, organize, and lead in-service training and staff development programs.
- Proficiency in cash handling, recordkeeping, and preparing operational or budget reports.
- Ability to enforce rules, policies, and standards of conduct with professionalism and consistency.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including preparing reports and interacting with the public.
- Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot recreational and maintenance equipment safely.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, including responding to emergencies and activating Emergency Action Plans.
