Reviews specifications, manuals and manufacturers’ recommendations, develops or assists in developing preventative maintenance schedules, implements preventative maintenance as required.
Inspects, maintains, repairs, and operates a wide variety of plant equipment, including engines, fans, pumps, meters, electrical breakers, compressors, programmable logic circuits, and related equipment; performs maintenance on air monitoring equipment, building heating/air systems, plumbing, and electrical systems. May tighten, pack, clean/replace filters, change oil, lubricate, repair, adjust and align motors, pumps and valves.
May perform welding and fabrication; weld structural parts and equipment; may fabricate and repair tools and equipment.
Assists electrical and instrument technicians in the repair, replacement, and maintenance of electrical controls, motors, and circuit wiring.
Reads specifications, blueprints and schematics to locate problems and determine work procedures; documents completed work.
Prepares and maintains the appropriate records necessary to the functions of this position: keeps records of maintenance activities, including parts inventory, maintenance schedules, and documentation of repairs.
Installs equipment, including pumps, motors, and air conditioners; rigs hoist chain; installs adjusts, calibrates and repairs various types of motors, pumps, filters, hydraulic equipment and machinery.
Conducts routine inspections on boilers, cranes, hoists, safety systems, and other equipment utilized in daily work.
Operates or uses test equipment, hand and power tools, lubricants, solvents, fuels and related; may operate and maintain drill press, welding machines, boom truck, backhoe, and tractor, as required. High School diploma or GED; Vocational/Technical degree in Mechanics or related field is preferred; supplemented by progressively responsible experience in the maintenance, repair, and installation of stationary internal combustion engines, electrically-driven pumps, control systems in an industrial plant setting; or an equivalent combination of education, and experience. Water Production/Treatment Class II certifications are desired for positions in the Water Department, as are Wastewater Collection Class II certification, if assigned to Wastewater.
Necessary Special Requirements
Positions in the Electric Production Department require completed Wartsila training for continued employment.
