Salary: $67,000 - $75,000/annual

The Economic Development Program Manager assumes responsibility for day-to-day operational management of activities and functions in the Economic Development area, including: developing, implementing and evaluating program delivery, procedures, and standards; monitoring program budgets; assisting his/her supervisor in determining program service levels and enhancements; interpreting and complying with all applicable regulations; identifying and developing funding opportunities; providing relevant advice and supervision to clerical, technical or professional staff, the public and other agencies.



Main Responsibilities

  • Identify and secure funding to support Economic Development initiatives, including small business development, small business finance, workforce development, storefront improvement, and other programs
  • Plan and implement funded programs, including outreach, qualifying business clients, enrolling clients and providing technical assistance
  • Track data, maintain accurate records, manage program budget, and prepare and submit all required reports
  • Participate in Economic Development team meetings and Program Manager team meetings
  • Represent the organization in external meetings and acts as representative to a variety of public agencies, businesses, community groups and other nonprofit organizations; fosters collaborative working relationships with them to accomplish mutual goals and objectives
  • Provides for the selection, training, professional development of subordinate staff, where present, and makes recommendations on hiring, termination, promotion and discipline as needed
  • Performs complex administrative duties requiring oversight, attention to detail and analysis, including assisting the leadership team in organizational development, strategic planning and financial analysis
  • Manage several projects with competing deadlines with coinciding reporting requirements
  • Produce detailed proposals for events to include event timeline, volunteer roles and projects, manage registration lists/RSVPs, and database
  • Ensure all permits, insurance, legal, health and safety obligations are filed properly
  • Track and collect data to input in database to help guide and inform future economic development goals and resources
  • Additional duties as assigned


Qualifications/Skills:

  • Commitment to the mission of the organization
  • Bachelors degree or relevant experience
  • Minimum of 2 years management experience; preferably in the nonprofit field
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills with ability to lead a team and achieve results
  • Experience in budgeting, supervising programs, and supervising program evaluation
  • Excellent internal and external communication skills, including public speaking, presentation and writing skills
  • Demonstrated relationship-building skills; possesses solid judgement, critical thinking skills, and a sense of teamwork and community
  • Ability to manage several projects with competing deadlines or coinciding deadlines
  • High proficiency in all areas of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee will occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee will be required to travel for a variety of work functions such as meetings, town halls, and community presentations.


Hours & Compensation

  • Schedule:40 hoursper week; exempt
  • Salary: Annual starting range $67,000-$75,000 DOE.
