Job Summary:
We are seeking a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and customer-focused Cigar Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for cigars and a desire to share that passion with our clientele. As a Cigar Associate, you will be responsible for assisting customers, managing inventory, maintaining the humidor, processing sales, and ensuring a top-tier experience for everyone who walks through our doors.
Responsibilities:
- Greet customers warmly and ascertain their needs or interests.
- Provide expert recommendations on cigars, humidors, lighters, cutters, and other accessories based on customer preferences and knowledge level.
- Educate customers on different cigar types, brands, regions, tasting notes, and proper cigar care.
- Accurately handle sales transactions using our Point of Sale (POS) system.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the retail space and humidor.
- Monitor and maintain optimal humidity and temperature levels within the humidor(s).
- Assist with receiving, stocking, pricing, and organizing inventory.
- Build rapport with regular customers and contribute to a loyal clientele base.
- Stay current with new products, industry trends, and cigar knowledge.
- Uphold all company policies and procedures, including age verification for tobacco sales.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Proven experience in a retail or customer service role.
- A genuine interest in and foundational knowledge of premium cigars (brands, types, regions, etc.). A strong passion is key!
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – ability to connect with diverse customers.
- Professional demeanor and appearance.
- Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy.
- Basic math skills and experience handling cash/credit card transactions.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weight (e.g., boxes of cigars).
- Willingness to learn and continuously expand cigar knowledge.
